“Security and peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina are at risk. The leadership of the Republika Srpska is violating the Bosnian-Herzegovinian constitution and the provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement (1995) – continuously undermining the rule of law institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and threatening to bring about a secession to join Serbia,” warned Jasna Causevic, STP expert on genocide prevention and the Responsibility to Protect.

We are calling on German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to acknowledge the seriousness of the hour and to use the conversation with Mr. Bećirović to save the Western Balkans from falling into a new war. Germany’s voice is now more important than ever before – to defend Europe’s peace concept in Bosnia and Herzegovina with all determination and all available diplomatic means,” Causevic said. “Germany’s commitment to the UN resolution on a day of remembrance for Srebrenica is an important step in the right direction. Steinmeier should build on this in the scope of this important meeting.”

“The actions of the President of the Republik Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the strong support by the Kremlin are a serious threat to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s rapprochement with the EU, the fulfillment of key aspects of the EU accession negotiations, and the country’s integration into the Euro-Atlantic institutions,” Causevic said. “The High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, should repeal the unconstitutional entity laws of the Republika Srpska and all support by the Peace Implementation Council (PIC),” the STP demanded. “Bosnia and Herzegovina must not be divided. Genocide crimes must not be rewarded.”
