Invitation: Campaign in Berlin for Nagorno-Karabakh / Artsakh

Prevent a genocide of the Armenians, put an end to Azerbaijan’s hunger blockade, Mr. Scholz!

--- Göttingen, August 17, 2023 --- Next Wednesday, the Society for Threatened Peoples (STP) will hold a compelling vigil in front of the Federal Chancellery in Berlin, to call on Chancellor Olaf Scholz to prevent a genocide in Nagorno-Karabakh / Artsakh. Together with Armenians living in Germany and the “Arbeitsgruppe Anerkennung – Gegen Genozid, für Völkerverständigung e.V.”, the human rights organization will appeal to the Chancellor to do everything in his power to save lives by putting an end to the hunger blockade against the predominantly Christian Armenian region, which Azerbaijan has been keeping up for 8 months already.

We would like to invite you to our human rights campaign:

Wednesday, August 23, 2023
from 12 noon to 1:30 pm
in front of the Federal Chancellery, 10117 Berlin

As a consequence of the blockade, there is now a famine in Artsakh / Nagorno-Karabakh, and one resident of Stepanakert has already died of hunger. “40-year-old K. Hovhannisyan literally starved to death. We fear that there will be more victims,” warned Sarah Reinke, the STP’s expert on Eastern Europe.

The STP will present a banner and placards as a form of protest – and an according appeal will be handed over to the Federal Chancellery.
