The Society for Threatened Peoples (STP) has been advocating for persecuted ethnic and religious minorities in the Middle East since 1969. In 1979, we informed the public about mass executions of Kurdish people in Iran, and demanded Tehran to put an end to the crimes. We helped journalist to meet Kurdish resistance fighters. As of 1989, we called for investigations into politically motivated murders of Kurds living abroad, which were arranged by the Iranian regime. In 2007 and 2010, we started campaigns for the release of Kurdish political prisoners and imprisoned Baha’is. In 2009, we organized an international conference in Frankfurt/Main – focusing on Iran as a multiethnic state without equality and freedom of religion (in German: „Iran: Vielvölkerstaat ohne Gleichberechtigung und Glaubensfreiheit“) – involving, among others, Kurds, Azerbaijanis, Turkmens, and a representative of the Iranian women’s movement. In 2010, we held a vigil in Munich to protest against the involvement of German companies in Iran. In 2014 and 2015, we demonstrated in front of the Iranian Consulate in Frankfurt/Main, demanding the release of all political prisoners.
